Introducing — Our First Last-Minute-Mom So I thought it might take a while to round up some content from my fellow mamas….but nope! Today’s post features our first fearless last-minute-mom, Amy Matasso! Amy’s got her hands full these days with three littles, Josh (5), Andrew (4), and Lorelei (1). All of her children are precious, […]
The other day I noticed a theme across my social media platforms (especially Insta & FB). All of the moms were posting photos of their children wearing Halloween-themed outfits. Many of these outfits included monogramming, custom-made tutus, and embroidery. Clearly these moms think ahead and plan for these types of occasions. Custom outfits and shirts must be ordered weeks, even months in advance. I know this. If you were one of these moms, bravo! But this section of mamability.com is probably isn't for you. This is a great section for readers who consider themselves "last-minute-moms"...myself included. There are only so many hours and minutes in a day. And although planning ahead and ordering custom holiday attire in and of itself isn't hard, for some reason, the minutes, hours, and days begin to slip by. And somehow, I still forget to order the themed holiday attire in time for the impending occasion (e.g. Halloween). But obviously my children can't be the only ones without Halloween outfits, this is not an option. So what does a "last-minute-mom" do? She races to her local mall on her way home from work (the day before Halloween), and shops the sales. And occasionally, her last-minute efforts pay off! This was the case for me this year, as I frantically shopped for Halloween-themed outfits for the boys to wear to school and underneath their costumes, last minute...of course. I scored two glow-in-the-dark Jack O'Lantern tees and two pairs of black jeans, in the appropriate sizes (3T & 24 months, respectively), and each outfit cost $15.99. This is just one of my many last-minute-mom successes, but unfortunately, procrastination does not always pay off and occasionally I come up empty-handed. This section is all about my successes and failures as a "last-minute-mom." Learn from (and laugh at) these triumphs and feats, and perhaps you can fine-tune your skills as a "last-minute-mom" as well. And of course, I would love to hear all about your own last-minute endeavors! If you'd like to submit some of your own last-minute experiences to this section of my blog and potentially be featured one week, please click here!
Stay tuned for the first, last-minute-mom entry coming this January- 2017!
